Baltimore continues to redefine what pain-talk sounds like, and Taee Slickk’s new album Money Bags & Broken Hearts is another strong entry into the city’s growing wave of raw, emotional rap. Produced entirely by Davonta Ayers, with one feature from WLC ROD on “30 Days,” this project blends charged-up street energy with melodic introspection, creating a full-circle listening experience that captures Slickk from multiple angles.

One of the most refreshing aspects of the album is its pacing. Instead of sticking to one lane, Slickk arranges the tracklist like a story told in stages. The beginning hits immediately with fast-paced, hard-hitting bangers the type of tracks that feel built for riding around with the guys or hitting the gym. As the project unfolds, the aggression slowly melts into melody, giving space for reflection, regret, growth, and gratitude. It’s a structure that keeps listeners engaged while highlighting Slickk’s range.

Thank You Momma” stands out as a classic entry into Baltimore’s pain-talk canon. It’s raw and honest, filled with lines that feel lifted straight from real life. Slickk opens up about struggle and survival, but instead of focusing on bitterness, the song leans into appreciation.

It’s gritty but uplifting, pain filtered through love and resilience. “Imma Man” is Slickk in his comfort zone, confident, cool, and gliding over the beat with effortless rhythm. This is the one to listen to with subs cranking. Then there’s “Dollar$,” arguably one of the project’s biggest standouts. Over a dreamy, almost hypnotic instrumental, Slickk unloads a mix of regret, hunger, and self-awareness. It’s pain-talk but painted in softer colors. "Dolla$" is easily my favorite song off the tape. I can't stop going back to it. The beat floats while his voice weighs heavily, creating that perfect contrast that makes Baltimore’s style so addicting. It’s the kind of track his fans will replay again and again.

What makes Money Bags & Broken Hearts shine is how authentically Baltimore it feels, yet it never gets stuck in one emotional gear. Slickk balances the intensity of street life with the quieter moments that shape a man. Whether you’re a hardcore Baltimore rap fan or someone exploring the city’s sound for the first time, this album has something for you. Money Bags & Broken Hearts proves he’s got the story, the sound, and the vision to keep rising.

If you haven't started tapping into what Baltimore has to offer, you're missing out, and Slickk is a testament to why you should be paying attention to the city.
