Philadelphia’s Ryshon Jones has always been an artist who thrives on nuance, and with his EP Things the Picture Didn’t Say he leans fully into that strength. Across the project, Ryshon crafts something cohesive yet dynamic: the songs all circle a central theme, but each track brings its own personality to the table. It’s the kind of release that feels like one body of work rather than a collection of singles, and that’s exactly why it sticks.

The EP wastes no time pulling listeners in with a intro track that sets the tone with clarity — moody, thoughtful, and layered. The 4th song on the EP "If I Would Wait" sits right in the center and earned it's spot in the limelight. By the time the EP hits its interlude "AOTP" Ryshon has already laid enough groundwork for the energy to expand, giving us a track that lifts the pace paves the way for “Samanthaera” the project's twinkly penultimate track.

One of the EP’s strengths is how each song blends in tone and message to the next. Adding to that cohesion is the presence of Maude N’Diaye and Loriah, whose contributions don’t overpower but rather enhance the fabric of the music. Their voices add subtle beauty across the project, almost like brushstrokes that bring out hidden colors in the canvas.

What makes Things the Picture Didn’t Say compelling is its balance. Ryshon manages to give us an EP that has direction, thematically tight without being repetitive. The intro grips, the midpoint entertains, and the final song A Mess Was Made” cements the journey. It’s rare for an EP to feel this complete, but Ryshon pulls it off with style and precision.

For longtime fans, this project shows continued growth. For new listeners, it’s a perfect entry point — a short, impactful body of work that showcases what Ryshon Jones does best: blending storytelling, emotion, and sound into something that feels bigger than the sum of its parts.
