Baltimore’s NoLuck Ny has been steadily building momentum ever since his breakout single “Stay Sober” dropped about six months ago, racking up over 147K views on YouTube and introducing the city to a new kind of energy.
When I first met Ny at the VA SHIFT studio, he struck me as laid back and genuine. Quiet confidence, no ego. But you could tell right away he was a student of the game, the type of artist who’s always soaking up knowledge and looking for ways to level up.
That growth shows heavy on his new album Shid I’d Hate This Too. It feels like a more polished, complete version of the Ny we first heard on Stay Sober. The production here is next level — clean, intentional, and tailored perfectly to his tone. Ny’s delivery matches the vibe: calm, confident, and locked in.
His sound lives in that space between motion music and reflection. It’s smooth but never sleepy. He’s got a gift for finding the pocket, bar for bar, beat for beat, and riding it with balance and precision.
For someone who goes by NoLuck Ny, this project feels like the opposite of chance. The sound is too sharp and too focused to be luck. If he keeps this same consistency and pressure, he won’t need luck at all.
Standouts for me: “Hero,” “Double Tap My Pic,” “Trackhawk” (feat. Baby Kirann), and “Maniac.” Each track hits a different gear but still feels cohesive, like Ny knows exactly who he is and where he’s headed.
Shid I’d Hate This Too isn’t just another local drop. It’s a statement that NoLuck Ny is here for the long run.
